Art Nouveau Tour

PARTNER CometoAveiro | Experimentaveiro (www.experimentaveiro.com)

The common purpose of Art Nouveau architecture at the start of the 20th century, from Europe to Portugal, was the desire for internationalist progress, a reflection of the spirit of the time marked by significant social, cultural and technical advances. Aveiro is one of Portugal's Art Nouveau capitals, with unique features in terms of its stonework and tiles, which, because they are in good condition and identified, make it possible to get to know and experience the city in the first decades of the 20th century. The tour analyses the period when Art Nouveau emerged in Aveiro and around the world, the general and specific characteristics of Aveiro, the main driving forces and their legacy, culminating in a visit to the interpretive centre, the Art Nouveau Museum, where the visit ends by absorbing the doors that were opened in all fields of art, influencing society as we know it today. You can relax at the end of the tour in the Art Nouveau Museum's Tea House. The Art Nouveau route takes in the various emblematic Art Nouveau buildings on a route identified by the Culture Division and whose key attraction is the Art Nouveau Museum.
